Instagram displays profile pictures in a circle, so ensure important elements are centered in the image. While 110px is the display size, uploading a larger image ensures quality across devices.

Square Posts
- Recommended size: 1080 x 1080 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 1:1
- Minimum resolution: 600 x 600 pixels
- Maximum file size: 30MB
Square posts are the classic Instagram format and display consistently in profiles and feeds.
Landscape (Horizontal) Posts

- Minimum width: 600 pixels

For consistency, use the same aspect ratio for all images in a carousel. The first image's aspect ratio will apply to how all images are displayed.

Instagram Stories
- Recommended size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 9:16
- Minimum resolution: 600 x 1067 pixels
- Maximum video length: 15 seconds per segment
Stories disappear after 24 hours unless saved as highlights. Leave a safe zone of 250 pixels at top and bottom to avoid text/stickers being covered by profile information or call-to-action buttons.
Instagram Reels
- Recommended size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 9:16
- Video length: Up to 90 seconds
Reels use the same dimensions as Stories but support longer video content and appear in the dedicated Reels tab and explore page.
Story Highlights Cover
- Displayed size: 110 x 110 pixels
- Recommended upload: 320 x 320 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 1:1
Highlight covers appear below your bio and are displayed as circles, similar to profile pictures.
IGTV & Instagram Video Sizes
IGTV Video
- Recommended resolution: 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 9:16 (vertical) or 16:9 (horizontal)
- Cover photo: 420 x 654 pixels (1:1.55 ratio)
- Video length: 1 minute to 60 minutes
IGTV is optimized for vertical viewing but also supports horizontal videos. Videos shorter than 10 minutes have a 650MB size limit; longer videos can be up to 3.6GB.
